Surprise Blog! Seoul? Seoul. Seoul!

I have not written on this blog for over a year! Quite a long time really. As far as I know no one has missed my blog posts overly much so I guess it matters not. I have been chilling out mostly on twitter and tumblr but, now, blogger.com, I fall graciously back in to your arms because there is nothing like a good old fashioned blog.

The main reason for this blog is to hastily record the last few hours before I leave for the airport to depart on an adventure. Where to? Well, the title gives it away really.

There a lots of reasons I wanted to go to Seoul. The time will come for me to explain them, but that time is not now. I am quite nervous about going to a country that I have never been to before by myself, especially since this country is not made up of English speakers and I speak about three words of Korean. Basically I am worried that I will become too nervous to go anywhere and stay in my room scared of the world outside. I mean, I don't want a stressful holiday, and I think taking it slowly and spending some time reading in my room or something would not necessarily be a waste of time but if I am paralyzed by the fear of going out on my own in a place I know nothing about - well really, why did I bother going.

I am probably going to be writing more blogs to not only fill in time but also to keep a record of all the interesting things I will (hopefully) see/do. I am too jittery to write more at the moment so, I will get back to finishing packing and being nervous and excited.

It's OK! I am wearing pants

Sometimes I'm travelling to uni on the train and I panic slightly because I worry about how the day will go.

It's weird because the thought that usually consoles me is "It's OK, you remembered to put pants on today, things can't be that bad if you remembered to wear pants. You will be fine."

I actually take a moment to check if I am wearing pants on public transport to reassure me that my day will be OK. True story.

I wonder at the frequency I use this thought as a consolation, I mean I've never even come close to forgetting to put on pants (or any other socially acceptable item of clothing that covers my lower half) in any circumstance. I have no idea what that means about me as a person. I just find calmness in the most simplest, silliest observations ... it could be worse, YOU COULD BE WEARING NO PANTS!

So, my advice is, as long as you are wearing pants you will be OK.

I think I need to include something else in this blog. But I can't think of many things. I joined an orchestra yesterday, that was a bit exciting, everyone was really nice. Now I need to make up four years worth of practise.

I am also reading a lot about water supply in developing countries because that is the loose topic of my final year project. It is quite interesting but there's a lot a lot a lot to read. And it's also nice to feel well informed about a social topic that gets mentioned a lot "a billion people don't have ready access to clean drinking water..." etc etc. WELL I KNOW WHY. Well not really, but I'd like to think I know more due to the amount I have been reading about it.

I also read We Need To Talk About Kevin recently. It is a very good book. One of the most thought provoking books I've read in a while. It raises interesting questions about why people have children and places an importance on what having a child really means that I think some people always overlook when discussing whether or not they will have children. There is also a lot more than that that is thought provoking about the book but maybe you should read it and find out for yourself.

But I'm more than just a little curious how you're planning to go about making your amends

An Unfinished Blog with a List.

Blogger has changed it's layout so at the moment I am a bit confused.

I initially could not see where the title box thing was but I have located it and we are good to go. OK GOING....

NOW

So...blogging huh? I'm going to write that thing for the thing on the thingy. I like writing blogs because they can be fun to write but they are hard because I hardly ever have a main topic I want to talk about.
However I just instantly decided to list a few things that I have come to done/come to enjoy over the past few months:

1. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries An adaptation of Pride and Prejudice through the Youtube vlogging medium. It's pretty awesome.
2. The Hunger Games Trilogy - maybe you have seen the movie, I did, then I decided it looked pretty cool and I read the books. It's not as amazing as some other books I have read but the story line is quite interesting. The story line is the main thing that will keep you reading, I think, I was not especially intrigued by the characters or their interactions and the writing style was very straight forward but it's definitely still worth a read.
3. Game of Thrones/Song of Ice And Fire - I think I may have mentioned this in my previous blog posts because I have been watching and have read all of the Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire series since the beginning of the year but the second season of the TV series (Game of Thrones) has come out and I have since watched it all and it is amazing! That being said the book series is also just as, probably even more so amazing. It's like epic fantasy for the modern reader, that is relatable but insanely epic at the same time.

I need to buy clothes for winter...maybe.

Guys... I have a tumblr. I have had a tumblr for ages (few months is ages right?) actually, but I don't really post and/or reblog much because I don't really get the point of reblogging (especially when you only have 2 followers) and I don't create anything that could go up on tumblr. This is my tumblr http://gerawrda.tumblr.com/ How awesome is my username? The clinching argument to getting a tumblr was to use gerawrda. gerarda was already taken... by a guy name Alex Gerard. GERARDA WAS NOT EVEN HIS NAME. Makes me sad.

What I really am doing is debating if I can stay up to watch the "Winner Bracket final" of 4IPL with Dignitas vs. TSM (League of Legends). I just realised it's in 10 hours so probably not... (it's 11:30pm now).
TSM have been playing terribly lately but they seemed to have improved a lot in the time between the IEM World Championships in Hanover, so I think they have a huge chance. It would be great if they won, seeing as they've tried so hard lately and overcome a lot of stuff as a team but at the same time, Dignitas is a great team and have a bunch of awesome players so it would be good if they win too. (YAY SITTING ON THE FENCE) I think there's probably a bigger expectation on TSM since they are so popular and have been doing badly, which is brought into the spotlight as everyone knows them well with their frequent streaming and (somewhat questionable quality) vlogging. But we'll see what goes down...

Also I would like to point out it's April. Blog Every Day April. It's already almost the 8th. Probably not doing that then...

IT IS TIME TO END THIS BLOG

But what if she's a Zombie or A Dracula? Better hang on to this.

You can learn a lot about yourself from the Traffic Sources part of the stats feature on this blog. Apparently I am in the top 100 of Perth Western Australian twitters. By followers. Practically famous. (I'm number 55 - almost in top 50! ...although it probably just shows how un-technological Perth is coupled with the fact that no one exciting actually lives in Perth. But...for me - small victories!)

Also a lot of people who visit my blog are Russian, not sure what that says about me but whatever. I think it's because there are some Russian words in one of my blog posts maybe. I don't know how that works.
But talking about Russians, if anyone happened to be watching the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship in Hanover Germany (coz I was on Saturday night having a LoL party by myself YEAH I'M SO COOL!), the team that took out the top prize for the League of Legends part of the tournament were Moscow 5 who are in fact, Russian. They crushed Dignitas (who are from the US) so hard, to remain undefeated in the tournament. It was pretty amazing to watch, their level of team work is incredible and they played pretty flawless championship matches. Seven minute (I think) dragon and they did attempt a 22(? earlier than usual) minute Baron (although it was skillfully stolen by Dig but M5 was already so ahead it did not matter). So exciting to watch. I tried to watch them again but my computer can't handle the awesome (ie it wouldn't load the video for some unknown reason).
In fact here's the baron attempt and Dignitas steal at 22 minutes. And then M5 ace Dignitas (kill all five members of the opposing team so none of them remain alive) straight after. It starts at 2:10 but if you have no idea what the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship is like you can watch the rest of the video. I am assuming it's an edit of the finals of the Counter Strike 1.6 and Starcraft II tournaments as well as LoL since they were also at the Championship. I know nothing about Starcraft but geez it looks intense.

(Look how skinny and pale the Russians are 0.o)

My friend called me a nerd the other day because I knew that the people who linked chainmail together for the Lord of the Rings movies wore off the their fingerprints. (I am still a little skeptical about this to be honest but that's what they said on the extended edition DVD.)I think I have quite a normal level of nerdiness. Right? Right.
